Description: This listing is for a very early bound printing of "A Visit From St. Nicholas," dated 1837. This rare printing is one of the earliest and no doubt the largest, measuring 11 x 14.5 inches with 208 pages. Construction is hardcover, black leather over boards with gilt titles. The poem is accompanied by a humorous introductory paragraph with one of the first author attributions to Clement C. Moore. The book itself is about current events and items of interest in 1837, so it makes for interesting reading. At 185 years old, it is in excellent condition overall. The covers were beautifully rebacked and show minimal wear. The first few pages have chips around the edges, with some reinforcement to the title page, but after that, the pages are very nice and surprisingly clean. Binding is tight. The poem is on page 207.
