Description: Up for sale is a check from the Buffalo Tigers, a member of the short-lived American Football League. The check is made out to Tigers halfback Ernie Wheeler. It is a game check from the November 24, 1941 contest against the Milwaukee Chiefs. It would be the last game in the franchise's existence. He also played in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cardinals. Wheeler played college football for the North Dakota State. Wheeler endorsed the check on the back. Tigers GM Fiore signed the check. Condition: one vertical wallet fold - an imprint from the bank stamp on the right side - a random bank hold in the middle - really sharp overall The autograph is beautiful. This is one of the last two checks I have of Wheeler. There were only four total checks ever found. The league only lasted a couple of years making memorabilia from these teams pretty scarce.
