Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This is one of a number of vintage tube radios that I have sold starting last Fall and Winter to happy enthusiasts. I will be selling more from this estate through the end of this year. They all were from the estate of a ham enthusiast who rebuilt communication receivers over the years along with many other tube type radios. This is a beautiful 1946 Firestone Air Chief “Interceptor” 4A-23 radio, AM and two Short wave band radio with seven tubes. This is an imposing wood cabinet large table model radio (19” x 11” x 12”) It has a built in loop antenna for AM reception. The two short wave bands requires a long wire antenna which should be hooked to the rear. It appears that both an electronic as well as a cosmetic restoration was done to the set. Grill cloth is original as can be seen online. The controls all turn as they should. Amazingly the set still has its original cardboard back with Firestone and model stamp still visible, although faint. In my opinion the cabinet is in beautiful condition for a 78 year old radio. The set displays well . I’ve included a few short videos of AM and SW playing: https://youtu.be/2OXsgugm7kc https://youtu.be/oT0l02wJbIQ https://youtu.be/tBOUBEtWPls https://youtu.be/PjW03SglnqM This is a fairly heavy set weighing about 30 pounds securely packed and boxed . Please look closely at all photos as they are an integral part of description. Although this set is clearly working as shown in the video there are fragile coils, switches and other components so the set may have to be gone through once it arrives. As such it must be sold “as is” Set will be carefully packed and shipped in a heavy duty box by Fedex Ground. Please check my 25+ year perfect feedback, discounted Fedex shipping and bid with confidence.
