Princess Margaret of the United Kingdom to Verna Hull, residing at Hull House, Barbados, boldly hand-signed "Margaret" in fountain pen ink by Princess Margaret. Verna Hull was a friend of Princess Margarets, a photographer, and a reputed lover of Claudette Colbert. British royal manuscript letter is handwritten on royal Kensington Palace letterhead / stationary, featuring the embossed raised royal monogram cipher "M" with crown for Princess Margaret. Royal presentation letter measures approximately 6.0" x 8.0". The original mailing envelope addressed to Verna Hull is also included. The royal envelope is initialed "M" by Princess Margaret in the lower left-hand corner of the envelope. Condition is original / fine. Museum quality. It's one of a kind. Authentic and correct. Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon (Margaret Rose; 21 August 1930 9 February 2002), was the younger daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. She was the younger sister and only sibling of Queen Elizabeth II. Hull, a wealthy painter and photographer, was the daughter of Greta Garbos psychiatrist, Dr. Vernon Herbst, and the stepdaughter of a Sears Roebuck heiress. In 1958, Hull met American actress Claudette Colbert, with whom she was long rumored to have had an affair. The two women resided in adjoining Manhattan penthouses and neighboring homes in Barbados. Their relationship publicly and acrimoniously disintegrated in 1968 with an argument regarding the death of Colberts husband. Princess Margaret had a home, Les Jolies Eaux (Pretty Waters), on the Caribbean Island of Mustique, not far from Barbados where Hull lived. Margaret and Hull are known to have bathed in the ocean together in 1978 at the Barbados Plantation house of Cobblers Cove, belonging to Margarets former paramour Alan Godsal.
