Description: Offered here for the first time ever – genuine handwritten words from American military officer and legendary “Last Stand” Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer, authenticated and encapsulated by Beckett. An exclusive CutWordCo Limited Edition, this is the first set of Custer words encapsulated by Beckett ever offered for sale! Each individual word was carefully removed from an original handwritten letter from George Custer to his wife, Elizabeth. Don't miss this exceptional chance to own an authentic piece of penmanship from the legendary Little Bighorn hero. You will not receive a copy of the letter from Custer, the 3rd image is shown purely to illustrate where the words came from. You will only receive the BAS encapsulated handwriting, encapsulate #00017195783. The slab measures 3.25 inches by 5 inches. Each encapsulated word was individually removed from a September 1872 letter from Custer to his beloved wife, “My precious darling...”, Elizabeth “Libbie” Custer, affectionately signed, Autie. Custer’s nickname was “Autie” because, as a child he couldn’t pronounce his middle name, “Armstrong”, and the best his infant tongue could manage was, “Autie”. To conserve precious paper, Custer first wrote across the page horizontally, and later when pressed for space, he wrote vertically over the original note. This being said, some words feature additional handwriting from Custer overwritten vertically on the cut words. Genuine Custer documents can sell for thousands of dollars. The cost of authenticating a single word of Custer's handwriting is $250 on Beckett's website.
