Description: ARTIFACT: This is US made, early war, circa 1941-42, chrome plated brass ring with enamel. Central Tank emblem is in cast brass with a gold wash. It was made as a planned part of the ring: the enamel was added after the tank. It is early war because 1. It is an early type tank, which was operational by late 1941, and 2. because it is made from brass, which became a restricted material by 1943. This tank was used extensively in the North Africa campaign by both US & British Armored (UK Armoured) units, and was quite possibly worn there. Maker mark is a U with an arrow through it.
