Description: I'm very pleased to offer for sale this majestic and rare limited-edition woodblock/woodcut print from the highly esteemed Hao Ping of China. The print is number 22/80 and is signed by the artist Hao Ping and dated. It has never been framed or hung and has remained in a vacuum-sealed tube since 1993, so it remains in outstanding condition. It is in the Shikishi format, measuring 50x50cm, or 19.65 inches (the art itself is 15x15 inches). Here is some information about the artist. "Widely exhibited in China, Japan, Europe and the U.S., Hao Ping is a visionary of Chinese printmaking. Born in Yunnan Province, his prints consider the culture and experience of the ethnic minorities of Southeast China. Through the use of bold color, geometric composition, and varying levels of abstraction, Hao Ping has a distinct style that reflects that of the Yunnan Art School. His modern woodblock prints can be found in the collections of the China Fine Art Museum, The Asia Pacific Museum (U.S.), and the British Woodcut Foundation. Hao Ping, born 1952, is a pioneer of modern Chinese printmaking, a movement that set in around 1980 when a new era of nearly complete artistic freedom began for Chinese artists. This page presents a selection of Hao Ping's woodblock prints created in the 1990s. It is an homage to Hao Ping and a documentation of an era that is now gone and part of China's modern art history. The subjects are taken from the colorful folklore of the ethnic minorities of Yunnan, a south-east province of China. As with other Chinese print artists, Hao Ping's woodblock prints are characterized first and foremost by their square format and relatively large sizes. This, coupled with his use of bright colors, often via 15 color blocks, produce spectacular scenes via his unique melding of the traditional woodblock technique with the modern medium of oil/acrylic pigments."Please be sure to open the Shipment and Payments tab to see the various shipping options. I always provide as many shipping options as possible, given that some are better than others for different regions. The cost on the main page is not always the best, so choose the best option during checkout. Please note that I always use the correct box measurements and weight, so if shipping is expensive, it's because the major carriers continue to increase their prices, and because I pack my items extremely well, not because I'm making additional money on shipping. Thank you.
