Description: A very nice, never run (except brief test trial), Lionel 23071 Polar Express #1224 LionChief 0-8-0 Die-Cast Steam Engine with Sounds, Smoke and remote control for O/027 gauge 3-rail made new in 2021 as part of the 2123070 Polar Express Freight set. (Note: Runs on 027 style track just fine but given the LionChief drawbar connection between engine & tender O-31 or larger curves are recommended)The beautiful, great running, die-cast steam engine with tender features an 0-8-0 wheel configuration, "maintenance free" can motor, puffing smoke unit, engineer & fireman figures in the cab, bright LED headlamp, LionChief remote control with RailSounds to include steam whistle, bell, crew-tower dialog, engine chuffing sounds and features the new LionChief Bluetooth 5.0 with Voice Streaming & Recording (VSR). The VSR feature allows you to stream your voice live through the engine tender speaker or record and play-back on command up to 3 of your own voice announcements. (Note: both LVC and VSR require use of the LionChief phone/pad App to utilize these features; they do not work when using the included LionChief remote.)The basic sounds (Whistle, Bell, Announcements) do not require any transformer controls to activate as these all can be activated using the remote. The remote is also used for engine speed and direction. LionChief engines can run on any O gauge 3 rail track and can use either AC or DC power to run. To run on a conventional layout, just put the engine on the track and set the transformer throttle to high (15-18 volts) and you then control everything from the LionChief remote. That said, this engine does require the remote to run, there is no "conventional option". In addition to the included remote, this engine can also run off the (optional) Lionel Orange "universal" remote or your phone/tablet using built-in Bluetooth 5.0 and the free download LionChief app which now also supports the Lionel Voice Command (LVC) system for "hands free" running and Voice Streaming & Recoding (VSR). I briefly test ran this sharp, strong engine on my layout and the motor, headlamp, remote functions, smoke unit and all sounds all worked great! This engine comes with the tender, engine specific remote and the original set instruction book.
