Description: I bought this Sword when I was stationed in Japan and had it since 2014. I imported it to the US in 2016. The Sword was made in the Eisho era (early 1500s), Yamato province of Japan, the sword maker is a 1st generation Norinaga and the school is the Shikkake school. The blade length is 28.75 inches and weighs 1lb 14.56oz with the handle and the blade itself weighs 1lb 6.25oz. The condition is excellent and the blade is Razor sharp! OISHI KURANOSUKE YOSHIKATSU was the famed leader of the 47 ronin and his katana and wakizashi were made by Norinaga and this very sword is also a Norinage which is regarded by some to be a true weapon of the time and that is evident in the fact that the Hamon on the blade is straight, see in pictures. Other neat features is that the Habiki is gold wraped foil. There are Enoshishi (Wild boar) on the ends of the Tsuka (handle). They are very are respected, and even feared in Japan because of their courage and their tendency to charge and attack. Also included is the stand that I made and is etched with the pertinent information. It comes with the paperwork I reveived to export it to the United States from Japan and has the authenticity certificates from the NBTHK as a KICHO TOKEN – Precious (white paper). Also has a certificate aw a Hozon from the...... This is well over 500 years ole and is a true museum piece and would be a great add to an antique arms and armor collection!
