Description: I have for sale an obsolete spurious $3.00 banknote from the Westchester County Bank of Peekskill, New York dated Jan 8, 1848. The left side of the note has THREE at the top and 3 at the bottom and a scene with a man between them. The right side shows a standing female and the number 3. In the center at the top it reads NEW YORK - SAFETY FUND. It then has a scene with three seated women with a ship in the background and the number 3 in a circle to the sides of the scene. It then reads WESTCHESTER COUNTY BANK - PROMISES TO PAY (looks like C Cook) OR BEARER ON - DEMAND THREE DOLLARS - PEEKSKILL N.Y. JAN 8 1848. Signatures at the bottom with an arm & hammer in a circle, between them. On the reverse you can see that it was signed and stamped over the signature, it reads, COUNTERSIGNED & REGISTERED - IN THE COMPROLLER'S OFFICE.
