Description: The 2022 Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – 1972 Limited Edition (500 pieces) Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – 1972 Limited Edition In 2022, it is precisely under the halo of this storied legacy that Porsche Design is marking the 50th anniversary of the Chronograph 1, with of course, a special timepiece: The Chronograph 1 – 1972 Limited Edition. A faithful homage to the original, this contemporary reissue is executed in a 40.8mm black titanium case that is carbide coated and finished off with a glass bead-blasted treatment. The same material and finish are used for the matching bracelet. Thereafter, the tachymeter scale around the dial and the day and date indicators feature the same typography from 1972. The dial layout also follows that which we would see on the earliest Chronograph 1s that were powered by the Valjoux 7750 and had a 30-minute counter at the 12 o’clock position. The baton hands, too, recall the original design along with a similar styled lume treatment on the hands and hour indices, in white. No faux-tina here. Powering the watch is the newly minted and COSC-certified, Porsche Design caliber WERK 01.140, with time, chronograph, day and date display. While many of us may remember this legend to bear the double double signed Orfina dials, for the occasion of the anniversary, the brand has decided to give center stage on the dial, crown, clasp and caseback to their own logo from its earliest days.
