Description: It's a New Xircom 56k Credit Card (PCMCIA) modem. NEW!!! It's literally still shrink wrapped - there's even a date printed on the actual plastic wrap, from 1999! Listen, if you weren't around back then, here's the deal: old timey laptops didn't have much in the way of expansion. USB was barely a thing yet, and most laptops had little card slots (referred to as PCMCIA - why? I dunno... but I bet the CIA was involved!) (probably not). So if you wanted to expand your laptop to do stuff, you would pop in a tiny card modem, or a network card, or even an interface card for your external CD or DVD player. It was a nutty time, I tell ya. Oh, and on the back, the Xircom people want you to know that this device is fully, completely compatible with Windows 3.1, 95, and NT, as well as DOS. So there's that. This thing is a piece of computing history. I actually used similar cards when I was younger and our technology was made from rocks and some rubber bands and stuff, and I remember being amazed that a tiny little card could connect to the entire world. Anyhoo - do me a solid and get this thing out of my house - I've just got too much stuff. Thanks!!
