Description: Firstly, I am not a fisherman, so my terminology may be lacking. This complete item, as is, was left from my father's estate. I remember him being an avid fisherman, and this is the last of quite a bit of gear that I gave away to friends. We lived in Illinois, so Herter's makes sense as a source for him. This looked like it may have value, and I saved it for sentimental reasons. That said, with a Herter's labeled aluminum tube and Herter's labeled fabric sock for storage, it's highly likely this is a Herter's rod, but the rod itself appears unlabeled. Perhaps label wore off (but I doubt it), or built from a kit (father was a very handy engineer), I have no idea. Others will know far better than I about the actual maker of the rod. All pieces fit together as designed. Assembled the rod is 7'8" overall from butt to tip. The tube is 43.5" overall including the rubber caps. Disassembled, the 3 pieces fit nicely into the sock and all into the tube. Nice complete original package, it seems. Assembled, the rod is amazingly flexible. Total weight of the rod's three pieces is 8.3 oz, if that helps. Good luck buying, and fishing!
