Description: Offered is this vintage white porcelain china scallop-edged plate featuring a large sepia-tone image of former Crown Princess Martha of Norway, who lived from 1901-1954. Martha became Crown Princess in 1929 when she married Crown Prince Olav but never became Queen, as she died before Olav ascended to the throne. Surrounding Martha's image is a gold band with a repeating design; this in turn is surrounded by a band of gold scrollwork featuring a crown, the Crown Princess' name and the dates of her birth and death. The scalloped edge is also trimmed in gold. The plate was made in Norway by Figgjo Flint. I don't know how old it is but I presume it was made at the time of her death as a commemoration. The plate is approx. 11" in diameter and about 1 1/2" high when sitting flat. It is in very good to excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or scratches and very little wear to the gold. There are some light marks from handling. A small plastic loop has been placed in the pre-drilled hole in the back for hanging. Please take a look at all of the other items in my eBay store!
