Description: Vtg 50s 60s M. Klein & Sons Lineman Tool Bag 5102-20 Canvas & Leather Dirty Used Vintage M. Klein & Sons canvas/leather lineman tool bag 5102-20. Looks to be from the 1950's or '60's, before Klein acquired Buhrke in 1968. "M. Klein & Sons/ Chicago, USA" is stenciled on the inside bottom of the bag (a little hard to make out in spots due to soiling; see photo 5). The model number 5102-20 is stenciled on one side. This bag has a leather bottom, darker in color and slightly textured. Handle made of layers of leather. Klein used saddle-grade leather back then. It's got more natural stiffness and character than the soft stuff they now use. USA made. Bottom of bag measures approximately 9" x 20". This Klein bag has been well used and is soiled and stained. Canvas on the outside is dirty, and the inside is more so. All metal feet are on the bottom and they look decent. Bottom leather is surprisingly good. Handles are scuffed but strong and well-attached. Unlike some other Klein bags of this age the straps have not rotted off. The leather straps are cracked and no doubt a little dried out but might still bear use. The lower rivets have pulled partially or completely out on the buckle side (photo 7). The canvas has torn in spots around the metal jaws of the opening as seen in last photo. Odor neutral. Despite years of hard use this tool bag is still hanging in there, a testament to its design and toughness. Display it or possibly use it! Payment within three days of first invoice.
