When we talk about a turbo's maximum recommended boost levels, we base that on the rpms the turbo needs to turn in order to create said boost. When you increase boost without increasing rpms or drive pressure, the load on the turbocharger is the same for the elevated boost as is was for the original lower boost number. The best part is when you run at lower pressures, like you would in daily driving conditions, the drive pressure/ boost pressure ratios are always lower, which should in turn result in longer turbo life, not less. ~ Bob Riley The 38R model will produce more peak hp than the 66. If max power is important and you have larger injectors - the 38R model will be better. Take your time and remove the turbo, hold onto the turbine shaft and remove the compressor wheel with an open end wrench.Before pulling off the compressor cover: The compressor cover can rotate 360 degrees. To eliminate you having to find the right index again after re-assembly, using a marker, mark a line across the break in the separation joint in the cover in two different spots. When you re-assemble the housing, you simply line up your old lines and you will save yourself a lot of time. Below is a dyno graph taken at Power Hungry Performance on Jason's truck. This truck has 250/200 injectors, GTP38R, and PHP tuning. Results are with only a wheel change. No tuning has been done to try to take advantage of the new found air volume.
