The Woodstock Music & Arts Festival originally started out as a for-profit concert venture planned to take place in Wallkill New York, before opposition from local residents forced promoters to find a new location just weeks before the event. As everyone now knows, the festival was moved 60 miles to the southwest and took on Max Yasgur's farm. Tickets for the event were originally available for individual days or concert goers could purchase a three day pass to attend the entire weekend. The promoters were not aware of the size of the crowd the event would eventually attract and at a certain point, stopped selling tickets as thousands and thousands were arriving, causing problems with traffic, food supplies and just the general chaos of a large crowd.
